The end of January is upon us. And wow am I so glad, because the last several days of it have been a real hot (cold) mess.
To start with, the Farm Boy experienced his first major snowfall since he’s been living here. And let me tell you, he is so not thrilled with it at all. Absolutely hates it. Can’t blame him. Snow sucks.
Sweet Pea had three babies on the 14th and became real sick with mastitis. She isn’t supposed to live, with only a 20% chance of surviving (per the vet) and we also lost one of her three kids.
Now we’re dealing with tons of ice because of all the rain that happened on Wednesday, which caused extensive flooding, which then proceeded to freeze solid by Thursday morning. What a mess!
Also – full disclosure: I’m ending this first month of the new year as a total farm-girl-failure. I’m out of hay, my mud-room is disgusting, my dogs stink like hell and positively need baths, I’m nearly out of firewood, and my barn is a freakin’ disaster. Oh – and I have two baby goats living in my house at the moment.
Other than that everything is awesome. Now, let’s see if I can’t get my shit together a little better in February. ~A
Can’t you at least go skiing or something? 😀
