This sandwich actually sounds pretty good. It appears to be an open-faced sandwich. I would probably make mine with two slices of bread just to keep it all together.
Now this recipe sounds like it was a version of “Thousand Island Dressing.” Popular back then, even on sandwiches apparently. I typed out the recipe for better reading if anyone would like to give it a try. It was someone’s Mother’s recipe, and a mother’s recipes must be real “keepers” if someone bothered to save them, right? Enjoy! ~A
Mom’s Salad Dressing
1 can of Campbell’s tomato soup
½ cup Mazola oil
½ cup vinegar
1 tsp paprika
3 tbsp grated onion
½ cup sugar
1 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Put all in jar, shake well and keep in refrigerator
