I was just beginning to think all was quiet on the farm and that there wasn’t much exciting going on. And then I decided maybe things were too quiet and I needed more rabbits.
So I added more rabbits to the farm. Two females. One came with three young babies. That livened things up a bit.
I raise the rabbits to eat. Sorry if that ruined your day. It is what it is. But hey, if you also like to eat them, I found a really great website with tons of rabbit recipes. The downside is that if you can’t read French your going to have to do some translating. You can visit the recipe site HERE.
I also wanted to add more chickens to my flock. After last summer’s chicken-eating fox issue my flock was down to 12-13 chickens, including two roosters. Also you can never have enough chickens (in my opinion).
Over the weekend I watched a dozen chicks hatch out in my incubator. There’s still a possibility of a few late ones hatching today.
The chicks are a motley mix of French Copper Marans, Olive Eggers and some other odds and ends. I like that… A bunch of “Mutts”
They all taste the same to me and the hens lay a wild assortment of egg colors. Happy New Year! ~A
I admire that you raise animals to eat. I don’t have the balls you do. 😉
Also, gave up hatching our own eggs — neighbors say no more roosters!
