To be grateful, appreciative, thankful…It’s a practice that deserves our attention every single day. I’m thankful that fall is almost here. A favorite time of the year for me.
But I’m feeling unmotivated and a tad stagnant in my life lately. In a little rut of sorts I guess you would say. I’ve gone off my path.
They say that when a person feels this way, the best thing to do is “just do something.” Anything, really. Try something out of the norm. Something unknown, something out of your comfort zone. You never know where that something might lead you, right?
Truthfully, I unconsciously let other people lead me off my path. I think we’ve all done this at some point or another. There are people who will always want your time. Certainly they all don’t warrant it. But It’s a matter of deciding who does, and having the mind to dodge those who don’t. You have to take care of yourself first and foremost. Selfish, I know, but necessary. Certain people can just suck the life right out of you and should be avoided if possible. Sometimes even family.
And It’s difficult in this world, I think, to find people who legitimately care about you, who want to spend time with you, and want to see you succeed. It’s a sad truth, but I think a reality. Likely, that’s why I enjoy being around my farm animals rather than people most of the time.
This weekend I’m going to challenge myself to do something. Something out of my comfort zone, something different. I don’t know what that will be yet, But I do have some ideas brewing. If you’ve been feeling in a rut lately, then I challenge you as well, to do the same. Something, anything! And share with me what you did, if you want. Happy September! ~A
