The Biggest Egg I’ve Ever Tried to Hatch

If all goes well and nothing short of a miracle happens, one or both of these two dinosaur eggs will hatch in the next several days.

Swan Egg

These things are huge.  And heavy – thirteen ounces each!  Look at the size comparison next to chicken eggs.

Swan Eggs

Just kidding – they’re not actually dinosaur eggs.  But they sort of are…  Birds evolved from a group of meat-eating dinosaurs called Theropods. Which is also the same group of meat-eating dinosaurs that Tyrannosaurus Rex belonged to.  Which also explains why chickens love meat.

Swan Egg

But these are not Tyrannosaurus Rex eggs, nor Ostrich eggs. These eggs belonged to my neighbor’s Swan.  Apparently the dumb bird never sits on her eggs, so my neighbor asked if I would try hatching them in my incubator for her.  And of course I said yes.  : )  ~A

(UPDATE:  The eggs did not, unfortunately hatch.  In fact, when we cracked them open several days after their due date, there was nothing but yolks in them.  Which means they likely were not fertilized…)
