Arena Goals

I have a goal I want to make happen sooooo bad… And annoyingly, it’s been lingering around in the back of my head for the past few years now.

When I got my farm, I suddenly had this huge, relatively flat, fenced in horse pasture on my property.  I pictured all the fun equestrian jump courses I would set up for me and my horses to play and jump around all day.  It was going to be so awesome! I was so excited! Little did I know…

The problem was, this pasture happened to be made up of clay soil underneath all that grass, and once a horse sinks a hoof deep into it there isn’t much you can do to fix that mess.  You end up with a lot of holes.  Deep holes… Holes that become rock-hard in the dry heat or freezing cold, and very unforgiving to a horses legs. And clay soil doesn’t drain well at all. Needless to say, it makes for a shitty (and dangerous) surface to ride on, let alone to set up a jump course.

Aside from that, I do have another big field that I used to have hay cut and baled from, and I’ve decided it’s too much of a pain in the ass lately, to get people to commit to cutting it. So these days I just mow it all down.  It’s a total waste.

Which brings me to my current, overly-obsessed status of searching to find someone who can level the surface of this field and construct a 100 x 200 outdoor riding arena (maybe bigger), and also fit it all into my budget… Are ya feelin’ my pain here? Stupid budgets.

Oh, and of course I want it happen by this Summer! I’m not growing any younger you know…

I’ve heard that it helps to manifest your desires and goals when you write it down and also have pictures to stare at.  So that’s what I did.  I “Googled” my farm and drew in the general area where I think I want my arena.  The measurements in the above picture are not quite accurate for size, but you get the idea.  Now I just have to wait impatiently and see what transpires …  ~A
