Happy New Year 2020!

I’m back from a little break and ready to dig into the New Year!  I can’t wait to get the winter over with and move towards springtime. How about you?  The mornings are so dark now.  Sunrise this morning was at 7:52 am.  Nearly 8:00 am! The dogs have pee in the dark.  Have you ever tried to keep track of six dogs peeing in the dark? Not fun.

I wasn’t feeling the “Christmas vibes” this year.  The month of December was so insanely busy and crazy at work that I barely even had time to think about Christmas.  I did a totally half-ass job of decorating my Christmas tree, and then the top portion of lights ended up going out two days before Christmas. I didn’t even care.  And no one noticed.

There was no snow for Christmas and its been unseasonably warm.  But there was a little snow on New Year’s Eve, to at least make it feel like December.

I’ve been getting a few things caught up on the farm, slower than I’d like, but at least making progress.  All the hay has now been moved into the main barn and the tractor has taken its place instead, for its winter resting spot.

The cutting and stacking of the firewood is behind schedule, but when isn’t it? I often wonder if I’ll ever get it together when it comes to the firewood?  I tell myself that I’m going to make a bigger effort this year, as I sip coffee and laugh hysterically at my nonsense.  Who the feck am I kidding?

The seed catalogs are now starting to trickle in through the mail, which only intensifies my yearning for spring to arrive.  I go through them all, page by page, flagging all the new fabulous vegetables I plan on growing.  Which, by the way, is absolutely more nonsense because I never get around to planting half of them anyway. But at least I can “escape” for a brief moment and pretend I actually have time to grow that many amazing vegetables.

More unseasonably warm weather is on the forecast for this week. This makes me nervous; I’m fearing that February could be brutally cold.  All 29 days of it.  ~A
