Walk-About

Yesterday I went for my tradtional “Day after Thanksgiving Walk-about,” which just consists of me walking my property, contemplating life, and hopefully burning off a little of the Thanksgiving calories.

Path to the woods

The weather was nice, not too cold.  I didn’t happen across anything extraordinary during my walk, but everything was still extraordinary in its own way – if not for just existing.

Amish Farm

I only brought one dog, my favorite one, “Saffron.”  I know, it’s bad to have favorites, but when you have six dogs…. Sheesh, there has to be a favorite.  And she really is the best dog.

Dog hunting

Sometimes I forget how quiet and still it can be in the woods.  When I finally got to the creek and fully into the woods, I found myself wanting to stay for quite some time, and ended up taking way too many pictures!  More than I could post in this blog, without slowing the load time or boring you!

Fallen Trees

I walked and thought about the Thanksgiving gathering the day before.  It was’t quite what I’d imagined.  I had guests that I don’t nomally have.

Flowing brook

I’d forgotten how negative-type people can affect me – even somewhat wreck me.  You know, those damn so-called “energy vampires….”  Pretty sure I had one for Thanksgiving.

Fall Leaves

Anyway, I know they can’t help it, and likely don’t even realize the bad energy they put off (or good they suck out) , but damn.  I had to burn sage leaves for three hours to clean that bad energy out of my house when all was said and done, and the guest was gone. Yikes!

Fall Leaf

Moving on. In two weeks the whole Christmas party at my farm with the family takes place.

Fallen Tree

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone as always.  My dear Grandmother just turned 89!  Let’s hope all that energy will be nothing less than positive and full of gratitude and love.

I busted my ass all day today in the cold… cleaning horse stalls, doing laundry, picking up grain and food for the animals, and trying to get things in order before the snow comes around again.

Creek with stones

I confess – I did listen to Christmas music the entire time I was doing my barn chores.  The animals seemed to enjoy it?

Farm Maybe the damn chickens will start laying eggs again. I seem to have a predator lurking… Something murderd a rooster yesterday.  I found the remains scattered around the pasture.  Saffy claimed a foot to chew on… *Sigh* Farm dogs…

Mon Abri Farm

The Farm Boy has the day off from work tomorrow.  The plan is to look for a Christmas Tree. I  thought about cutting a small one from the woods, but then decided it might be too “Charlie Brown?” It’s 8-9 feet tall!

White Pine tree

Anyway, plenty to do tomorrow, and if it doesn’t rain too much there is alway firewood to be cut and stacked… ~A
